[Monsters of Destruction] Patrick & Samson

Rain nor mud
could not stop Dan Patrick & Samson from taking home the trophies in the Straight Line
and Obstacle Course racing at the Monsters of Destruction event at the Ross County
Fairgrounds in Chillicothe, Ohio on Friday night. Patrick continued the dominance on
Saturday night, for a clean sweep of the weekends racing competitions.
After getting all the mud off the truck Sunday morning, Dan headed to Red
bluff, California for the West Coast Monster Truck Nationals, promoted by Joe Froome and J
& K Motorsports.

The Monsters of Destruction
racing series is coming to Dan Patrick & Samson’s home state of Ohio! The next
two stops on the 2006 Monsters of Destruction racing series are September 15th & 16th
in Zanesville, Ohio at the Muskingum Speedway and at the Ross County Fairgrounds in
Chillicothe, Ohio on September 22nd & 23rd. These events will be filmed and televised
by The Outdoor Channel.
Monsters of Destruction is the only true monster truck racing series featuring
electronic timing equipment. The series consists of 26 rounds of competition and features
Straight Line Drag Racing, Obstacle Course Racing and Monster Truck Freestyle. All rounds
of competition are nationally televised on The Outdoor Channel.

[Event Recap] Trois Rivieres and Quebec City |

The United States may be where
monsters know how to race and freestyle, but Canada is where the promoters know how to put
on perhaps the most exciting events ever, and we mean it. Chris Arel Motorsports invaded
Trois Rivieres and Quebec City on May 12th and 13th. Samson, Screamin' Demon, Iron
Warrior, Brutus, and Avenger roared into both sold out events with 7,000 insane fans on
their feet the entire night in Trois Rivieres and 13,000+ in attendance for the Monster
Spectacular event in Quebec City. Dan Patrick in Samson dominated the field of trucks in
both cities and brought two victories back to the States. Friday night straight-line
racing took Patrick into the finals while Chicago-style racing sent Patrick into the
finals once more for two great victories. Patrick sent Samson into victory lane once more
during freestyle, defeating Black Stallion, Screamin' Demon, and Avenger with great runs.

Rapid City, SD – Dan Patrick
in his #50 Samson monster truck proved once again he is one of the toughest competitors to
beat in the industry. Only one other driver
has been able to sweep back to back rounds of competition in the MOD Series and that was
accomplished earlier this year by Dan Runte. With
Patrick’s wins in Round 12, he now leads both Straight Line Drag and Obstacle Course
Racing standings for the 2006 MOD Series.
“I’ve said it before, we are either really good or
really bad”, said Dan Patrick. “This
weekend we were on the good side. This series
is the most demanding series we compete in and it feels good to walk away with all four
trophies this weekend. Now I get to go back
to the shop and build more parts for more customers.”
Rick Swanson in the #95 Fabtech Obsession slipped out of first
place in Obstacle Course Racing to Patrick, but a second place finish would keep him hot
on his tail.
“This weekend Dan (Patrick) was on”, said Swanson. “When he is on I don’t think there are
too many people that can beat him. We ran
this weekend with our back-up engine and still finished in second all weekend. I couldn’t ask for much more out of this
truck.”
Kreg Christensen in his #01 Dragon Slayer would lay down the
quickest time in qualifying, but would drop a valve starting his truck to come out for
Straight Line Drags.
“It’s horrible to be the fastest qualifier and not
be able to make a single pass in racing”, said Kreg Christensen. “This is really going to hurt us in points. This was a new motor for this event and it is just
unfortunate that this had to happen.”
Round 11 is scheduled to air on The Outdoor Channel August 12th
and Round 12 will air August 19th. Both
will air at 11AM PST. You can now also order
any round of racing as the MOD Series is available “On Demand”.
Next stop on the 2006 MOD Series is Evergreen Speedway. This event is the largest event in the season with
10 trucks competing. Trucks scheduled to race
are Obsession, Dragon Slayer, Spider-Man, Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw, Monster Jerky,
Natural High, Captain USA, Monster Moose and Public Disturbance. The event is held at the Evergreen Speedway August
24th and 25th in Monroe, Washington.

This was a sell
out event and was one of the biggest and best monster truck show at the Olympic Stadium!!!
There were 14 monster trucks racing, jumping, with a lot of air, and free styling!!! -
Samson, Black Stallion, Iron Warrior, Godzilla, Bigfoot, Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw,
Equalizer, Hot Tamale, Brutus, Avenger, Back Draft, Eradicator and Screamon Demon. Frank
Krmel piloted Samson for the night. This is the first time in quite a while that someone
other than Dan Patrick has driven Samson!!! Dan was very pleased with Frank's driving and
handling of Samson!!

After the trucks competed in the Donut
Competition (with the exception of Full Boar and Grave Digger) and all the trucks had done
their freestyle (with the exception of Full Boar), Grave Digger was ready to do his
Freestyle. At the end of Diggers Freestyle, Samson received a hard hit to the back of the
truck, when Digger, running without front brakes, could not get turned in time and slammed
into the back side of Samson. Luckily, Dan was not sitting in his truck, there was no
major damage to the truck and no was hurt. Needless to say, the show was over for the
evening!!

The Michael Hoff Production film crew from
Emeryville, California came to Dan’s shop and home in February and July of 2005 to
interview and film for a new project about the Evolution of Monster Truck Racing for the
National Geographic Channel. The air date for Monster Truck Tech will be
Wednesday, December 14th @ 8:00 pm and Wednesday, December 21 @ 4 pm on the National
Geographic channel.

The "New" Hulk Monster
Truck made its first racing appearance at Radford, VA on July 1, 2005 at the Motor Mile
Speedway. The Hulk will be appearing again in Fishersville, VA, July 29 & 30,
Connellsville, PA on August 3 and Carlisle, PA on August 5, 6, & 7th.

MONSTER TRUCKS 2005 TRADING CARDS DEBUT! |
The
first set of monster truck trading cards since 1990 hits the shelves this week. The set of
36 cards exclusively features some of the top independent teams in the world.
Cards will be sold in plastic sleeves with nine cards per sheet. They are packaged
numerically to make it easy for fans to collect entire sets in one purchase.
The trading cards will be sold at novelty stands, in shops, and over the internet by the
teams that are participating in this year's set. The theme is "support the
independents", so purchasing a set of cards from your favorite monster truck team
directly supports the independents that brought our sport to the phenomenon that it is
today!
So support your sport and support your favorite teams! Look for the trading cards at a
show near you this summer!
