MOD Kicks Off 2006 Season in Roswell, New Mexico

Murrieta, CA – The 2006 Monsters of Destruction National Monster Truck Series kicks off in Roswell, New Mexico with Rounds 1 & 2 at the Eastern New Mexico State Fairgrounds March 10^th and 11^th.  The field will consist of six of the world’s best monster trucks including the 2005 MOD Champion, Dragon Slayer, Bigfoot, Samson, Spider-Man, Obsession and Monster Jerky (formally Big Dummy).

Several changes were made during this off season with regards to the series.  Each truck will receive two qualifying passes, one in each lane and will be bracketed according to its best time in qualifying.  Each event will also have a purse payout dedicated for that event.  Trucks will be paid based on their finish in Straight Line Drags and Obstacle Course Racing.  New timing equipment has also been developed specifically for MOD which will include reaction times for each truck and staging lights.    

Points will be given based on the trucks placement at each round of competition and an end-of-year points fund is being created.  The points fund will be based on a percentage of national sponsorship secured for the series.  Start line, finish line and pit area cameras will also be present at each round of competition so that the fans can see the reaction times of the trucks for each race, the insanely close finishes and all the happenings in the pits during the event.

The MOD Series is the truest form of monster truck racing currently available.  The goal of the MOD Series is to bring back true and accurate monster truck racing to the sport and the fan.  And if you cannot attend a live event all rounds of competition will be televised nationally on The Outdoor Channel. 

The MOD - Behind the Scenes television series has also made some changes for 2006.  Each show is being shot and produced in High Definition and the MOD - Behind the Scenes cameras will be at each round of competition, guaranteeing you a true insight of the ins and outs of the MOD Series.
