Round 3 Del Rio, Texas --
Standing Room Only
Del Rio, TX – Round 3 of the 2006
Monsters of Destruction National Monster Truck
Series is in the books taking place in front of a
standing room only crowd at the Val Verde
Fairgrounds. Dan Runte in the # 88 Bigfoot made his
presence known to the rest of the field and would
take home first place in Straight Line Drags and
second place in Obstacle Course Racing. The 2005
series champion, #01 Dragon Slayer, was paired up
against the #88 Bigfoot in the finals all night and
would take home first place in Obstacle Course
Racing.
Round 3 featured Chicago Style Racing
as well as Straight Line Drags. Taking the top
qualifying position was Kreg Christensen in the #01
Dragon Slayer, followed by Runte and his #88 Summit
Bigfoot. The #95 Obsession qualified third, Dan
Patrick in the #50 Samson fourth, #02 Spider-Man
fifth and #18 Natural High sixth.
The #01 Dragon Slayer was the most
consistent driver all night averaging a .160
reaction time between six races. “It’s tough to beat
someone that consistent off the light”, said Rick
Swanson, owner and driver of the #95 Obsession. “He
definitely had the light tree dialed in all night.”
Dan Patrick in the #50 Samson had an
unlucky night and would finish 6th in Straight Line
Drags and 4th in Obstacle Course. The point
